Cooperation between Israel and Ukraine got to new level

On Monday, July 6, a meeting between Zeev Elkin, the Minister of Immigrant Absorption of the State of Israel and the Minister of Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage, and Oleg Vyshniakov, the Honorary Consul of the State of Israel in Western Ukraine took place in Jerusalem.

The Honorary Consul congratulated the Minister on his accession to the new position – the head of Joint Israel-Ukraine Committee on commerce and economic cooperation. In Ukraine similar position is being held by Povlo Klimkin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

This Committee associates representatives of Israeli Ministries that deal with different types of cooperation between Israel and Ukrainian governmental and non-governmental organizations. Assignment of Mr. Elkin on such a position will become a momentum for the development of effective cooperation between the two counties.

Different spheres of cooperation were discussed during the meeting between the Minister and the Honorary Consul, including cooperation in agricultural, economic and tourism.

“I am pleased that it is Mr. Elkin that became the head of this Committee. He is one of the leading Israeli political figures. We have been cooperated with him effectively for years. Our cooperation is time proved and I’m sure that relations between the two countries will be developed even faster now” Oleg Vyshniakov noted.

“We know each other for years and I would like to note that Mr.Vyshniakov put great efforts into improving the relations between the two countries, both cooperating with the Embassy of the State of Israel in Ukraine and working on his own” Zeev Elkin stressed.
